Professional development possibilities include:
1) acquiring knowledge,
2) developing skills, and
3) personal transformation.
Personal transformation occurs when you experience a shift in the ways that you see yourself, others, and/or the world. This level of development is more difficult to achieve, but frequently most meaningful and long-lasting.
Some aspects of my workshops are geared toward personal transformation, whereas that is the primary goal of my longitudinal development programs.
For all sessions, I ascribe to adult learning theory -- that people learn best when they reflect on their experience, apply the material to themselves, discuss with colleagues and share expertise, and ideally “try on” the concepts or skills being learned.
